The World Class competition officially started on Monday with The Singleton Sensory challenge and the Johnnie Walker Blend of Worlds challenge. There was a hobbit inspired cocktail from New Zealander Jason Clark, an impressive show from Taiwan’s Jeffrey Chang using a screen and a cocktail complete with ant garnish from the Brazilian, Laercio Zulu. At the end of the day, the judges picked their top four for both challenges, which were USA, Sweden, France and Japan for Blend of Worlds, and Spain, Thailand, Austria and Japan for the Sensory challenge. Japan looking like the frontrunner today!

At lunch, there was a fabulous spread for the guests at Gleneagles outside in the grounds. The sun came out, and there was some delicious food from fresh oysters, to tandoor oven cooked naans and a good old British scone.

In the evening, World Class descended on Edinburgh for the Johnnie Walker Blue Label official opening ceremony at Mansfield Traquair. A fabulous night of glamour. Just a shame Jude Law wasn’t there in person…
